Sulfates in Shampoo: Should You Avoid Them?

Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and Sodium laureth sulfates (SLES) are ingredients commonly used in producing shampoo, soaps, detergents, toothpaste and a whole lot of personal care products.

SLS and SLES are found in high concentrations in industrial products, including engine degreasers, floor cleaners, and car wash products and used in lower concentrations in household and personal care products such as cleaning products, toothpastes, shampoos, and shaving foams.

The foaming action means that a person can spread the shampoo over a greater area of their head. It may also help any active ingredients in the shampoo work deeper into the hair to remove dirt and excess oil. Of course, this may also mean that the person uses less shampoo. Sodium laurel surfactant, which is a chemical that breaks down surface tension. The result? More effective cleaning and lots of big bubbles. SLS is cheap to produce, and it creates the type of lather that people have been conditioned to think means “clean,” so it’s a staple of conventional personal care. It’s also a staple in industrial cleaning products, so if you have an engine that needs to be degreased it can do that too.

The most common sulfates found in store-bought shampoos include sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, and ammonium laureth sulfate. Other products may contain slight variations of these compounds, as well. These are not true sulfates, but they carry out the same role.

Why Balayage Hair is the New Hair Trend!

Balayage has been around for a while, but this timeless technique is creeping it’s way back into being one of the most popular hair colour requests in salons today. It’s a freehand hair colouring technique that gives a really blended natural look with no harsh or obvious regrowth lines. Balayage techniques require much less maintenance and provides excellent alternatives for touch up and covering regrowth and tradition foil.

Looking for a new fashion hair transformation? Well, it’s time to try the trendiest hair coloring method in town— balayage. Balayage is a French word that means sweeping or painting. And in the hair salon industry, balayage is a hair coloring technique that features soft, smooth, and natural looking highlights through the use of the hands. The technique uses patches of light and shade to create multiple dimensions to the colour. It’s a great method if you want to refresh your colour but don’t want to go for a bold colour overhaul.

If you’re ready for a change, you’re in the right place. Celeb stylists and Instagram influencers are always inspiring the latest hair colour trends. No matter if your locks are blonde, brunette, black or red, there’s a chic balayage option to suit you. Perfect for creating a graduated and natural-looking style, balayage leaves ladies with dimensional and radiant-looking hair. So, what are you waiting for? Just go through INCOLOR to find the three new products designed to achieve fashion effects, lightening and toning, without giving up a natural result, and find the best new balayage option for you.

1.) BLUE BLEACHING POWDER WITH AMMONIA + Organic Amaranth Oil+ Organic Safflower Oil
Compact anti-yellow powder, dust free. It maintains the level of hydration of the hair during the bleaching process.

2.) NOURISHING COLOR ACTIVATOR  + Rice Proteins. Activator for colouring and toning.

3.) BLEACHING FLUID + Organic Rice Extract + Phytokeratin. Multifunctional formula, which can be used for the following services:

• pre-color treatment
• natural lightening
• softening of the re-growth effect
• hair polishing and elimination of color overload

SOME EXAMPLES OF USE:

NATURAL EFFECT HIGHLIGHTS

To lighten natural hair by two tones lighter, and to create some very natural effects on lengths and ends. Mix the bleaching fluid with the recommended Volume Color Activator. Apply the mixture on the lengths and leave on maximum of 20 minutes, depending on the desired lightening result. Rinse and proceed with organic Shampoo. The bleaching action and the speed of action of the product can be influenced by the structure of the hair and by the presence of an artificial color on lengths and ends. Obviously, the best result will be obtained on natural hair.

HYDRATING AND ILLUMINATING PRE-COLOR TREATMENT

To prepare the hair to receive a fashion or very light colour, for example copper and red shades or super bleaching, on a very dark base. Mix the bleaching fluid with the recommended Volume Color Activator. Apply the mixture to the hair, leave on for 20 minutes, remove the excess product and apply the desired Hydra-color® shade.

SOFTENING OF THE RE-GROWTH EFFECT

To quickly eliminate the contrast between the natural dark base and the lighter lengths, to lighten the contrast between the natural base and the streaks or to recover the barriers created by great regrowth. Mix the bleaching fluid with the recommended Volume Color Activator. Apply the mixture to the working area, leave in hair for 20 minutes, depending on the desired shade. Rinse and proceed with organic Shampoo.

POLISHING OF COLORED HAIR AND/OR REMOVAL OF COLOR OVERLOAD

Proceed with covering the root regrowth, using the desired shade. Mix the bleaching fluid with the recommended Volume Color Activator. Apply the mixture on the lengths for 10-20 minutes. Rinse and proceed with organic Shampoo.

So, what are you waiting for?

When it comes to refreshing your look, nothing beats getting your hair cut & coloured. Not only is it a visual change, a great hair refresh can inspire a whole new wardrobe, boost your confidence and represent a brand new you!

FANTASY COLOURS – Tips for Maintaining Bright Hair Colour!

Pack a Pigment Punch with our NEW fastest colours

Dying your hair is always fun and it’s also a great way to kickoff the new year! Pack a pigment punch with our NEW fastest colours. INCOLOR Enhancing Direct Pigments, a new, easy-to-apply formulation in gel form to place accents on hair tips, fringes or face-frame sections; create exciting ombre and highlighting effects. Fastasy colours are the ultimate tool for creative colour.

Good Color Starts with Healthy Hair

Unhealthy, damaged hair will not hold colour well. You may make it from black hair to pink in a week by bleaching your hair twice a day but that pink won’t hold because your hair is in rough shape. Be patient with your journey from dark hair to coloured hair. Make sure to nurture your hair. Hair masks and repair products are your best friends! Try INSIGHT DAILY USE  Energizing Mask & INSIGHT DRY HAIR Nourishing Mask.

Rinse Hair with Cool Water

This is actually my best tip. Warm water opens the hair cuticle allowing the colour to escape. I’m not saying you need to wash your hair with ice cold water, but in reality, the colder the better. Wash and rinse hair in cold water, toss it up in a towel then crank that water up for the rest of the shower.

Cold water also helps reduce bleeding if you have more than one color, otherwise your hair colour will just turn into a mess similar to when you mix different colors of paint together.

While we’re on the subject of water, it should be noted that swimming in chlorinated water is awful for your hair color. (But hey, if you want to fade your hair, go for it!) For good measures, just keep your hair dry as much as possible and avoid hot water!

Avoid Shampoos with Sulfates & choose SLS/SLES FREE

Sulfates (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate & Sodium Laureth Sulfate) and alcohol-based products are two huge things that will fade any hair colour. Sulfate free shampoos can be kind of tricky to find sometimes, but they’re definitely worth switching to. INSIGHT professional has a wide selection of hair shampoos & conditioners which are SLS/SLES FREE. Instead INSIGHT uses gentler cleansing agent, derived from coconut, using a more dermo-compatible cleansing product means protecting scalp health and balance over time.

Even with sulfate free shampoo, you should still try to cut back on shampoo use. Shampoo strips your hair of its natural oils, as well as the colour. If you’re lucky enough to not have super greasy hair, skip washing every other day and use a protective MASK on your off days. Our choice is INSIGHT COLORED HAIR Protective Mask which protects hair colour, & deeply nourishes the hair, leaving it softer & healthier than ever.

Avoid Prolonged Exposure to the Sun

Just like your skin, the sun isn’t necessarily good for your hair color. Try wearing a hat if you’ll be spending a long time in the sun. There are also products to protect the hair from weather conditions, sun rays, chlorine & sea salt. We recommend trying INSIGHT ANTIOXIDANT rejuvenating MASK & INSIGHT ANTIOXIDANT protective hairspray.

All of the above should help you maintain your hair colour & enjoy your vivid pigments for fashion results on the fly!

Professional Hair Care in Australia: How to recover your hair after a few days at the beach?

Repair your hair in short time with the proper Professional Hair Care

Exposing your hair to the sun, salt water and sand can leave hair feeling dry and brittle. Also, dying or excessive use of heat styling products can damage the hair.

High PH levels can cause normal and dry hair to lose its brightness, consistency and elasticity.

Salt crystals, present in 80% of seawater, concentrate and magnify the sun’s rays on your hair causing a lot of damage.

For its part, chlorine binds to the hair follicle, removing the natural oils that protect and nourish it.

Not to mention the sand, which although it is not such a component of seawater, it is part of what remains as waste in your hair. The moment you unravel or manipulate it you can cause it to break as the weight of the sand is accumulated in it.

After spending a few days on the beach, you should use the Damaged Hair Restructurizing Mask.

The objective of this hair therapy is to recover and rejuvenate hair that has been damaged by harsh conditions.

Do not forget

All of your beauty routines should be accompanied by a healthy diet, which includes foods or supplements rich in B vitamins, B-12 and C that will protect your hair from the inside.
